Legislation RTLW Supports/Opposes
The 2007 session of the Wyoming state legislature begins on Tuesday,
January 9. Right to Life of Wyoming will be monitoring legislation on key
pro-life issues and will support some bills, oppose others, and seek to
amend bills to alleviate concerns we have with them.

At this time, Right to Life of Wyoming supports:

* HB 79, the Abortion Reporting bill sponsored by Rep. Bob Brechtel.

Wyoming is one of just a handful of states that doesn't make a public
report on basic information about abortions. This legislation would require
the state health department to make public its annual report on abortion by providing it to a legislative panel. The information in the report would not
identify the names, addresses or any other information about the identity of
the women having abortions. Instead, it would provide basic information
about the number of and types of abortions done in Wyoming and other information.

Abortion advocates claim the report will be used to harass women who
have abortions, even though they can't be identified by the redacted data
and even though women aren't harassed in the numerous states with
annual public abortion reports. Also, RTLW takes a strong stand against
harassing women who have abortions as we understand how abortion hurts women medically, emotionally and spiritually.

The information in the reports will assist RTLW, state lawmakers, and other groups in determining the best ways to reduce the number of abortions in Wyoming and to help women with unplanned pregnancies.

Please call your state representative and senator and urge strong support
for HB 79, the abortion reporting bill.

Other information on legislation will be added when additional bills are
introduced
